My name is Linda Vernon, and I love teaching first grade. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Missouri State University, and my Master's in Teaching from the University of St. Mary. I also have been trained in Reading Recovery from Emporia State University, and have adapted that model to teach my guided reading groups in my classroom. I have been teaching at Tonganoxie Elementary since 1993. All but 6 of those years have been in first grade. I've also taught At-Risk, Title 1 Math, and Third Grade. My favorite thing to teach is first grade writing. I love to see first graders' imaginations come to life in their writing.
I have been married for 43 years to my husband, Mike, who is pastor of the Edwardsville Christian Church. We have three grown children, two granddaughters, and a cocker spaniel.
